We are excited to announce the 2024 Peter G. Brown Scholarship recipient!

This year’s award goes to Analee Cruz, daughter of the Hammond, Indiana location Route Service Representative, Hector Cruz (Team Member since 2007). As a senior at East Chicago Central High School, Analee has maintained a GPA above 3.0 and has been inspired by her teachers to pursue a career in education.

Analee dreams of becoming a teacher who inspires the next generation to have a better vision for their futures and the world around them. After experiencing high school during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, Analee is driven to create a classroom where young students experience education in fun and creative ways and believes education should evolve with society. Mickey’s Linen is proud to provide a $7,500 scholarship to support Analee’s education and pursuit of becoming an inspirational educator. In the fall of 2024, Analee begins the next chapter in her life, attending Purdue University Northwest.

About the Peter G. Brown Educational Scholarship

Since 1945, Peter G. Brown has been the guiding force behind Mickey’s Linen.

As a young man growing up, Peter was faced with many adversities. Not only did his parents emigrate to the United States from Greece and barely spoke English, but his father passed away when he was nine years old, leaving him with the responsibility of helping support his mother and three sisters. Since this occurred during the Great Depression, he had to work and could not further his education. When the United States entered WWII, Peter joined the army to fight for our country. He returned from the war in 1945 and continued his career at Mickey’s Linen.

The Peter G. Brown Educational Scholarship was established to provide additional opportunities for young men and women so they may have greater educational opportunities in life.
